In this course, you'll build on your existing knowledge and experience and add expertise in the area of cancer and palliative care, learning theory and technique that will take you to a more advanced level in both your chosen area of practice and your specialty. You'll learn from experienced practitioners who will you introduce you to a range of disciplines that you will learn to apply in an holistic manner, creating healthcare solutions that incorporate medical techniques with sensitivity and compassion.

The course aims to give you the knowledge and the confidence you need to apply diverse disciplines to individual cases related to cancer and palliative care. You'll learn the techniques, technologies and theories associated with patient care, and develop the ability to analyse cases individually and devise a care programme accordingly. You'll also explore the emotional aspects of care, relating to patients, families and yourself, and develop techniques for personal stress management, learning to cope with the pressures of this demanding career.

The number of modules studied is dependant on the exit that you wish to achieve, for example:

  • A Grad Cert is 60 Credits (3 modules)
  • A Cert HE/Grad Dip/ HND is 120 credits (6 modules)
  • A Dip HE credit is 240 credits (12 modules)
  • A Degree is 360 credits (18 modules)
  • An Honours Degree is 480 credits

Please note that some part-time courses give modular exemptions for previous study and vocational experience. Advice is available during application.
