Even if you do not wish to become a lawyer, an LLB is an excellent qualification as it is very highly regarded by employers in many sectors. This route allows you to study part-time but still gain your LLB in four years by attending evening classes, giving you the flexibility to study alongside other commitments.

If you want to pursue a legal career, this course will help you take your first step into the legal profession. Even if you do not wish to become a lawyer, an LLB is an excellent qualification as it is very highly regarded by employers in many sectors. This route allows you to study part-time but still gain your LLB in four years by attending evening classes, giving you the flexibility to study alongside other commitments.

The course introduces you to the workings of the Scottish legal system and focuses on subjects such as criminal law, human rights, contract law, family law and evidence.

This course is also available to graduates as a full-time two year fast-track option (UCAS M100).

You'll develop key skills you require for a career as a solicitor, or related profession, including skills of written and oral communication, problem solving, persuasion, legal research and team work.

This course prepares you for a career as a solicitor, subject to successful completion of Professional Education and Training (PEAT 1 and PEAT 2). A legal qualification is also very useful in other areas including:

Part-time study

The number of modules studied is dependent on the exit that you wish to achieve, for example:

  • A Grad Cert is 60 Credits (3 modules)
  • A Cert HE/Grad Dip/ HND is 120 credits (6 modules)
  • A Dip HE credit is 240 credits (12 modules)
  • A Degree is 360 credits (18 modules)
  • An Honours Degree is 480 credits

Please note that some part-time courses give modular exemptions for previous study and vocational experience. Advice is available during application.
