Exercise physiology is the fascinating study of how exercise alters the human body. On this course you'll learn how to use sport and exercise to rehabilitate patients and prevent disease. You'll gain a broad understanding of sports science principles such as biomechanics and sports psychology but also a specialist knowledge of exercise physiology from which you can build towards accreditation as an exercise physiologist.

The course explores the science used to help the body perform to its full potential. Our course offers more than most sports science degrees because you'll learn about science purely in its relationship to exercise and sport. You'll study core modules but also design your studies by choosing modules from areas which interest you most.

You'll learn how to carry out a very wide range of procedures and use equipment involved in exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, injury rehabilitation and coaching.

The applied nature of this course encourages the development of skills that make you more employable. You'll develop a wide range of employability skills such as written, verbal and visual communication, IT, problem solving, research and team working.

Part-time study

The number of modules studied is dependent on the exit that you wish to achieve, for example:

  • A Grad Cert is 60 Credits (3 modules)
  • A Cert HE/Grad Dip/ HND is 120 credits (6 modules)
  • A Dip HE credit is 240 credits (12 modules)
  • A Degree is 360 credits (18 modules)
  • An Honours Degree is 480 credits

Please note that some part-time courses give modular exemptions for previous study and vocational experience. Advice is available during application.
