How to apply

Once you have found your ideal course, you’ll need to apply.  It’s not difficult, but you do need to know the correct procedures so your application goes smoothly.

Undergraduate Admissions Update - 15 January deadline

The Admissions team is currently working through applications which have been submitted by 15 January UCAS deadline. We aim to make decisions as quickly as possible and you will receive a final decision on your application by 9 May 2013 at the very latest.

In line with other Scottish Universities, Edinburgh Napier has a quota set by the Scottish Government for the number of Scottish/EU students we can accept each year. For the 2013 admissions cycle, we have received a high number of applications from suitably qualified Scottish/EU students for the following subject areas:

  • Biological Sciences (all courses)
  • Business Studies (all courses)
  • Business Management (all courses)
  • Criminology
  • Economics
  • LLB (all courses, excluding Graduate Entry LLB and part-time LLB)
  • Midwifery
  • Psychology (BSc and BA single Honours)
  • Sport and Exercise Science (all courses)
  • Veterinary Nursing

As a result of this high demand for places, we will be unable to consider applications submitted after 15 January from Scottish or EU students for the above courses.

The number of students universities can recruit from the Rest of the UK (RUK) and from overseas is not subject to Scottish Government control and we continue to consider applications from suitably qualified students for all courses with the exception of Midwifery and Veterinary Nursing which are now closed.

Unfortunately the UCAS vacancy website does not allow us to distinguish between students from Rest of the UK and Scottish/EU students. If you intend to submit a late application to Edinburgh Napier University, please contact the Undergraduate Admissions team at ugadmissions@napier.ac.uk for up-to-date advice on availability of places.

Full-time undergraduate courses for 2013/14

If you're applying for a full-time undergraduate course starting next September you need to apply through UCAS after 1 September this year. The deadline for applications is 15 January next year. Once you have made your application through UCAS:

  • UCAS will send you confirmation of receiving your application.
  • They will then send your application to us for consideration.
  • When we receive your application we will process it in line with our  Admissions Policy. We will decide whether your application is successful and unconditional (you meet the entry criteria and a space is available for you), successful and conditional (you still need to complete a qualification required for entry), or unsuccessful.
  • As soon as you receive confirmation of your qualifications, please send a copy to ugadmissions@napier.ac.uk or Admissions Services, Merchiston Campus, Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh, EH10 5DT.
  • Some courses require an interview, portfolio or audition before an offer can be made. If this affects you, we will be in touch directly with details.
  • You can track your application and decisions made on UCAS Track
  • Once we have made a decision on your application, we will send this to UCAS and they will contact you. We will also contact you directly with our decision.
  • Once you have received replies to all of your applications, the decision is yours. You have the option of firmly accepting the offer, making the offer your insurance choice, or declining the offer.  Further information on how you do this is available from UCAS. It is important that you respond by the deadline that UCAS gives you to avoid missing out.

For more information on how to apply, download our  Applying through UCAS guide or watch the video guides on www.ucas.tv.

International students and those applying for advanced entry follow the same procedure as above.
